How to wear : menswear

I’ve always felt a strange satisfaction when playing with menswear inspired looks – maybe it’s my inner tomboy revelling in the moment, or a subtle sense of power derived from dressing like “the man” and showing the boys how it’s done. The look is sexy, casually sophisticated and comfortable.

For a slight twist on the usual button down and jean/trouser pairing, I paired this baggy cotton v-neck with a pair of sleek maroon moto jeans, just to even out the silhouette. Moto jeans add a level of laid-back edginess over everyday denim while keeping things minimalistic. My last nod to the boys came in the form of a flat maroon patent boot with a studded heel, but the beautiful thing about it is, you could wear a sleek heel or a sneaker, and it’d look just as good.

To take this look up a notch; a leather biker jacket has never steered man (or woman) wrong. Keep your accessories minimal, bold earrings if you want an injection of femininity, fistfuls of rings for an edgier look, or in my case, a simple black leather watch for the minimalist in me.

So what do you guys think? Do girls do it better? What are your favourite menswear inspired looks? xx
